All residents are given unlimited WIFI access to the internet. All suites have a wireless access point to transmit our high speed fiber optic internet signal. Connect to the network by choosing your suite location. This service is FREE to use.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Who is responsible for cleaning the suite?” el_id=”1467279756155-d2a64428-b738″]You and your roommates are responsible for cleaning your suite and for purchasing all the necessary cleaning supplies. There are monthly inspections to ensure that suites are being maintained.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are there laundry facilities onsite?” el_id=”1467279781035-c62ed565-ba8c”]Yes. You will love our remodeled, bright and welcoming laundry rooms. Each building has 2 rooms. 1 on the main (1st) level and on on the top (4th) level.<\/p>\n

To use the washers and dryers, each resident must download the PayRange app on their mobile device and load funds to their own PayRange account. No more worrying about having change for laundry. It is very convenient, safe and super easy to use.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What happens if I get sick or there is a medical emergency?” el_id=”1467279796256-497236ff-8071″]There is a walk-in medical clinic across the street from Georgian Green<\/a>. Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH), a large regional hospital, is located beside Georgian College and is a 15-minute walk or five-minute drive from the residence. Barrie also has 911 emergency dispatch services.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Is there shopping and are there restaurants close to Georgian Green?”]Yes, we are located next to a plaza that has a convenience store, restaurants, a copy center and hair salon.<\/p>\n

We are within a few minutes walk to the Duckworth Street plaza that has many food vendors, Tim Hortons and more!<\/p>\n

We are within walking distance to Alliance Blvd where there is a billiards hall, as well as St. Vincent Street where there are more restaurants, a UPS store and more. Plus there is also a gas station down St. Vincent at Grove Street.<\/p>\n

The other direction on St. Vincent Street towards Cundles Road, there are 2 more plazas with restaurants, shopping and more.<\/p>\n

We are very close to the Barrie North Crossing Plaza. Here you will find many popular stores including a Cineplex Theater, LCBO, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zehrs grocery store and many restaurants… plus…plus…plus[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column animation=”fade-in”][vc_column_text]\n

Applying for a Room<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”When should I apply for a room at the Georgian Green Residence?” el_id=”1488917185345-05532f42-f2ec”]As the best priced – fully operational student residence in Barrie<\/a>, rooms go fast!\u00a0 We strongly recommend you apply for a room as soon you get your formal acceptance from Georgian College. The 257 rooms at Georgian Green are offered on a first come, first served basis.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do I apply for a room at Georgian Green Residence?” el_id=”1488917185652-726837f7-aa36″]It\u2019s easy to reserve a room. First, complete our online application found in the APPLY NOW section of this website.\u00a0 We will review your application and respond within 72 hours. (longer wait times may occur at peak periods)<\/p>\n

We will then email you our Residence Housing Agreement (RHA) along with a payment form\/link.<\/p>\n

Rooms are not secure until the completed RHA and full required payment has been received.<\/p>\n

Once complete we will reserve your spot in the Georgian Green Student Residence!<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> Rooms are not assigned until the very end – so many changes happen with respect to room assignment that we can’t possibly to it sooner.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do I need a guarantor if I am 18 years of age or older?” el_id=”1488917185943-9ab43610-7e48″]Yes. All applicants require a guarantor, regardless of their age.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”When will I find out if I have a room at Georgian Green?” el_id=”1488917186189-d951f242-8630″]We will review your application within 72 hours of submitting it online. These times may increase during peak periods.<\/p>\n

Once you have submitted the housing agreement document along with the required full payment\/deposit, we will review it to ensure everything is completed correctly.\u00a0 Then you will receive notification by email that we have reserved a room for you.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What happens if apply too late and I don\u2019t get a room because Georgian Green is full?” el_id=”1488917186459-2686e797-cdeb”]You will be notified by email that your application will be added to our waiting list. If and when a room becomes available, we will contact you to move forward in the process.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What happens if I change my mind before I move in?” el_id=”1488917186714-8fc455d6-0961″]Once the Residence Housing Agreement (RHA) has been signed and submitted to us, you are fully obligated for all rental payments until the fixed-term ends or another student is found for your room, whichever happens first.<\/p>\n

Meals<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”Is a meal plan available?” el_id=”1488917264769-95eb1567-f5ea”]Georgian Green Student Residence does not offer a meal plan, but there is a pre-paid student meal service available through Food Services at Georgian College.<\/p>\n

Each Georgian Green suite does have a full kitchen, so meals can be prepared and enjoyed at home.[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column animation=”fade-in”][vc_column_text]\n

Rent & Parking<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”Do I need to pay my full rental term in advance?” el_id=”1488917259117-41fd383f-aa13″]No. After your first two deposits are paid, the remainder of your rent can be paid on a monthly basis by completing our Pre-Authorized Payment form (PAP) which can be found in the APPLY NOW section of this website<\/strong>.\u00a0 The first rental deposit (the equivalent of one month\u2019s rent) is due with your rental application; a second rental deposit (also the equivalent of one month\u2019s rent) is due on or before the first day of the month before the college semester starts (August 1 for September; December 1 for January; April 1 for May).<\/p>\n

These two deposits must be paid by certified cheque or money order if you are sending everything by mail (post); payments by debit or credit cards are accepted if made in person at the Residence Management office. We cannot process or accept e-transfer or wire transfer payments.<\/strong>[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I pay rent by credit card?” el_id=”1488917259397-625da31c-d553″]Yes, but there is an additional $25.00 service fee for each rental payment paid by credit card. So, for six rental payments, the total in service fees would be $150.00. Payments by credit cards are accepted if made in person at the Residence Management office. Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) is also another payment option.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Why must my guarantor provide a credit card number?” el_id=”1505312763081-c125d0d3-65ad”]Your guarantor supplies a credit card number and authorization to pay for past due rent, damage repairs, cleaning fees and other miscellaneous charges. This process is more convenient than other financial methods. The card will be used to collect any unpaid fees, but an invoice with a due date is always sent before any charges are applied to a credit card. This gives you a chance to first pay by another method.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do I still have to pay rent if I move out?” el_id=”1488917259662-f28d990a-5359″]Yes, you will have to pay rent until the end of your lease term, or until a new person is found to move into your room. If you are thinking of moving out, please inform the Residence Management office as soon as possible. Staff can help you find someone to take your room.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How much does it cost to park at Georgian Green?” el_id=”1488917259938-ac7dc4e2-d2e2″]Residence parking is $60.00 per month, with the entire term payable in advance.<\/p>\n

    Security & Maintenance<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”What type of security is provided?” el_id=”1488917274359-dbbdd4fd-f506″]We have 24 hour, 7 days a week on site staff. The buildings require a key to gain entry and you also require a key to enter your suite as well as your private bedroom.<\/p>\n

    The property and each building are protected with the use of digital recording video surveillance cameras. All visitors are required to be accompanied by the visiting resident the entire time they are on site.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are there Resident Advisors who live on the premises?” el_id=”1488917274686-4b540239-b5d1″]Yes. There are two Resident Advisors in each building. They are accessible during office hours, which are weekday evenings. They are also accessible for emergency situations 24 hours a day all year long.\u00a0 You can also call them on the RA cell phone at 705-791-8407[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What do I do if something needs to be fixed?” el_id=”1488917275027-85c18715-65e6″]As a Resident of Georgian Green, you will be given access to our online resident portal. Here you can complete and submit a work order for any repairs you notice in any of our buildings or outside on our property. You can also use this for any repairs in your suite, such as a dripping tap, a running toilet, something broken etc.<\/p>\n

    To inquire about accessing this form or the portal, please contact your Resident Advisor or the Residence Administration office.<\/p>\n

    The work order is then emailed to residence\u2019s maintenance crew. Depending on the problem, repairs are usually completed within 72 hours.[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column animation=”fade-in”][vc_column_text]\n

    Suitemates<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”How do you match suitemates?” el_id=”1488917269550-c1907b70-14a6″]When you sign up to live at the residence, we ask you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire that asks all about you, from your age, hobbies and music preferences to your study habits and whether you are a nighthawk or an early bird. This information helps management in arranging the most compatible suite teams possible.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”When will I find out who I\u2019m rooming with?” el_id=”1488917269852-989ea4ac-d51f”]Suite assignments are revealed on move-in day, in case there are any last minute changes.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I share my suite with a friend if I make the request in advance?” el_id=”1488917270160-89241098-ce0a”]Yes, as long as your friend also indicates on his\/her application form that he\/she would like to live with you and there are no circumstances that prevents us from making this match.\u00a0 Roommate requests are given serious attention but cannot be guaranteed.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I just found out that someone I know is moving into residence, and I\u2019ve already submitted my application form. Can we still room together?” el_id=”1488917270484-936ecfbc-4f0b”]Yes, provided you make a request before residents start to move in, and both of you send an email with this request to the Residence Management office[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can men and women share a suite?” el_id=”1488917270850-d398ccdb-8803″]Yes, but only if everyone in the suite agrees and submits a signed letter to the Residence Administration office stating that they want to live in a co-ed suite with each individual’s name noted. Otherwise, suite teams are all-female or all-male. Residence buildings are co-ed.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What if I don\u2019t like my suitemates? You will have living room furnishings in the open concept space as well as a kitchen\/dining room table & chairs, a full-size fridge, stove\/oven, cupboards and window coverings.<\/p>\n
