6 Vacation Ideas That Won’t Break the Bank

6 Vacation Ideas That Won’t Break the Bank

August 10, 2023 Posted by Gail Uncategorized

Summer is the ideal time for students to travel because you have a break lasting several weeks. Unfortunately, it’s also the most popular time for people to travel in general, as everyone is looking to take advantage of the warm weather and many families can only go on vacation when their kids are not at school. This can make summer vacations expensive. Luckily, the following destinations are not too expensive, even in the summer.

  1. Niagara Falls
If you still haven’t visited Niagara Falls, change that this summer. The mist coming off the falls is a great way to cool off on a hot day. If you want to do more while you’re there, you may like to purchase a bundled pass to visit some other attractions, such as the butterfly conservatory.
  2. Vancouver
Although hotels can be expensive in Vancouver during the summer, the many free activities make it an attractive city destination. For instance, you can bathe at Kitsilano Beach, bike around Stanley Park, and see the floral displays at Queen Elizabeth Park. Make sure you also include a day trip to Granville Island.
  3. Glacier National Park, Montana
If you’re looking for outdoor adventure, national parks are ideal. Glacier National Park in Montana has some of the most beautiful spots in the U.S. The summer is the best time of year to visit because it’s possible to drive all over the park. You’ll just need to pay a fee to enter with your vehicle, after which you can hike and swim in the lake to your heart’s content. Camping is also affordable, meaning it is possible to spend many days here without exceeding your budget.
  4. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
One of the most famous national parks in the U.S. is great for an affordable vacation: the Grand Canyon. If you’ve always dreamed of seeing this UNESCO World Heritage Site, consider visiting this summer. You can save money by camping and bringing your own food. Although you’re likely to find crowds on the South Rim, there are peaceful places just a short hike away where you can enjoy breathtaking views.
  5. Bar Harbor, Maine
To enjoy a variety of outdoor activities — particularly water sports — there are few better options than Bar Harbor, Maine. The main attraction is Acadia National Park, which has a combination of mountains, wetlands, forest, beaches, glacial erratics, and numerous other geographical features. Nearby at Frenchman Bay, you’ll be able to hike, play miniature golf, and go birdwatching.
  6. Aruba
To go a little further afield, consider Aruba. Summer is actually the low season because the temperatures are so high — but this is not a big deal if you’ll be spending most of your time in the water or indoors where you have air conditioning. If you find a vacation package for an all-inclusive resort, you’ll be able to make sure you stay within your budget.
Save money when you’re back at university to have enough for your summer vacation next year by moving into affordable off-campus student housing. Peterborough students can find a new home at Severn Court. You’ll have your own bedroom with a separate lock and thermostat in a fully-furnished suite. All utilities and internet are included in the price of the rent and there’s no meal plan. Best of all, you’ll be just across the street from campus, meaning you won’t have any transportation costs and you can wake up late but still make it to your classes on time. Apply for an eight- or 12-month lease now.
